Why a talking cat works for storytime and Reddit videos

Reddit-story and storytime channels read other people's posts or their own anecdotes over background footage. A talking cat is the friendliest possible narrator for that format: cats are already the internet's favourite reaction face, and a cat telling you about someone's terrible roommate is funny before the story even starts.

Mochi is animated around the voice: his ears and tail react a moment after his head moves (the way real fur and ears lag behind), his mouth follows the sounds of your script, and his seven expressions cover the whole range of a juicy story, from smug 'happy' to the 'surprised' twist.

3 script ideas for Mochi

  • Reddit story intro

“Am I wrong for refusing to share my Wi-Fi password with my neighbour? Okay, here's the thing: he's been using it for two years… and he changed the name.”

  • Pet fact Short

“Cats only meow at humans. Adult cats almost never meow at each other. So when your cat meows at you, it's a language they invented just for you.”

  • Storytime cliffhanger

“So I'm at the airport, my flight is boarding, and I realise the bag I've been guarding for an hour… is not my bag.”

How it works

  1. Paste your script. Mochi reads it from a karaoke-style teleprompter.
  2. Record your voice in the browser, or upload an MP3, WAV or M4A.
  3. Pick a scene, framing and subtitles, then download the video.

Tips for Reddit and storytime videos

Rewrite the story in your own words and add your reaction: reading a post word for word over gameplay is exactly the kind of low-effort upload that struggles with monetization. Use a forum-post card to show the original title, then let Mochi tell it.

In 9:16, keep Mochi in the upper half and your background footage below, or use the streamer-room scene full frame. Pick a coat colour and keep it — a consistent narrator turns one-off viewers into subscribers.

Questions

Can I change Mochi's colour?
Yes, he comes in five coat colours, including a tricolour version, and seven expressions. You also choose the background: a drawn scene, your own image or video, a solid colour, a green screen or transparent.
Can I use Mochi for Reddit story videos?
Yes. Make sure you are allowed to use the story, rewrite it in your own words and add commentary — that keeps the video original.
Can I monetize talking cat videos?
Yes, the video file is yours to publish and monetize. What YouTube's Partner Program does not pay for is inauthentic content: mass-produced or repetitive uploads with little original work. Your own script, voice and point of view are what make a channel eligible, not the drawing.
