Friendly dinosaur

Talking Dinosaur for Kids and Science Videos — meet Rex

Rex is a round, clumsy and lovable dinosaur with a crest of colored plates, a cream belly, tiny arms that wave on their own and a tail that never stops wagging. His big mouth has two blunt little teeth — more goofy than scary. He tells science facts, nature stories and kids' lessons in your own voice.

A dinosaur kids want to listen to

Children recognize a dinosaur instantly, and a friendly one makes any topic feel like playtime. Rex was drawn to be silly rather than fierce: his big round eyes, oversized grin and short arms make kids laugh, while his wide mouth makes every sound easy to see. He suits counting and alphabet videos, riddles, 'did you know' facts, nature and space for kids, and of course dinosaur facts.

He also works for grown-up science explainers with a light tone. Pair him with the riddle, counting and reward-sticker templates for kids, or the fact cards for general audiences. Four colors: lime green, orange, purple and teal, each with its own plates.

How it works

  1. Paste your script. Rex reads it from a karaoke-style teleprompter.
  2. Record your voice in the browser, or upload an MP3, WAV or M4A.
  3. Pick a scene, framing and subtitles, then download the video.

Tips for kids' videos parents trust

Talk slower than you think, repeat the key word, and ask a question the child can answer out loud before you reveal it. Keep videos bright and calm: no jump scares, no flashing, no pressure to buy. Rex's 'Surprised' face is perfect for the reveal.

On YouTube, content aimed at children must be marked 'made for kids', which turns off comments and personalized ads and usually means lower earnings. Decide your audience honestly before uploading; for older viewers, Rex works great in general science explainers.

Questions

Is Rex suitable for a children's channel?
Yes. He is gentle, original and has nothing scary about him, with blunt teeth and a goofy grin. Mark the videos as made for kids on YouTube if children are your audience.
Can Rex be used for adult science videos?
Sure. A playful mascot works for light science and nature explainers for any age; pair him with fact cards and keep the tone curious.
Can I monetize a kids or science channel with a character?
Yes, the video file is yours to publish and monetize. What YouTube's Partner Program does not pay for is inauthentic content: mass-produced or repetitive uploads with little original work. Your own script, voice and point of view are what make a channel eligible, not the drawing.
