Everyday guy who reacts

Reaction Avatar for Reddit Story Videos — meet Joe

Joe is an ordinary guy in a plain tee with a round, extremely expressive face: huge eyes, a wide mouth, eyebrows that shoot up, a cowlick that bounces and a drop of sweat that appears on its own when the story gets awkward. He reads Reddit posts, 'Am I the jerk?' stories and workplace drama in your own voice, and his face does the reacting for you.

The listener who can't believe what he's hearing

Reddit story channels are mostly text read aloud over gameplay or stock clips. What keeps people watching is the reaction — the face of someone hearing the twist. Joe is that face. His default expression is 'Surprised', with eyes like saucers and the sweat drop, and his eyebrows move more than any other character's, so even a small pause before the twist reads on screen.

Use him for AITA stories, 'my boss…' and roommate drama, entitled-customer tales, wedding disasters and comment-section reactions. Put him in a corner over the post template, or full screen between parts of the story. Five T-shirt colors, eight skin tones and eight hair colors.

How it works

  1. Paste your script. Joe reads it from a karaoke-style teleprompter.
  2. Record your voice in the browser, or upload an MP3, WAV or M4A.
  3. Pick a scene, framing and subtitles, then download the video.

Tips for storytime videos people finish

Rewrite the post in your own words and add your take between the parts — reading a post word for word with no commentary is exactly the kind of low-effort reupload platforms don't reward. Change names and details that could identify real people.

Hook with the conflict, not the background, and save the update for the end. Switch Joe to 'Serious' for the villain's quote and 'Happy' for the satisfying ending; the reaction is half the entertainment.

Questions

Can I put Joe over gameplay footage?
Yes. Export a transparent .mov (up to 30 seconds per file) or a green-screen MP4 and layer him over gameplay or any background in your editor.
Why is Joe surprised by default?
Because storytime channels live on reactions. You can switch him to any of the seven expressions — neutral, happy, excited, surprised, serious, sad or thinking — for each video.
Can I monetize a Reddit story channel?
Yes, the video file is yours to publish and monetize. What YouTube's Partner Program does not pay for is inauthentic content: mass-produced or repetitive uploads with little original work. Your own script, voice and point of view are what make a channel eligible, not the drawing.
